AI Content Generation and Certificates – Curriculum Guide

Curriculum management in Manabu2 has two finishing features that make learning more effective: AI content generation, which drafts materials and slides for you, and certificate management, which recognizes what learners have achieved. The first saves the people who build the content time; the second gives the people who learn something to aim for.

Opening AI content generation

Click AI content generation (AI教材生成) in the left sidebar. The URL is /en-US/{organization ID}/curriculum/materials.

Here, AI writes text materials and slides from your instructions and any file you attach. Instead of writing from a blank page, you get a first draft to work from. Lesson bodies and outlines for courses, sections and lessons are generated from the AI buttons on their own screens.

What AI content generation can do

Drafting text

Generates the body of a text material. It can also summarize, explain more simply, or tidy up the Markdown.

Generating slides

Generates a Markdown slide deck of 10 to 14 slides, with Mermaid diagrams, that plays with Reveal.js (a presentation for your lesson).

Generating quiz questions

On a quiz's question editor, AI suggests 3 to 5 questions, each with options and correct answers. You apply the one you want to the editor.

Adding reference material

Attach an existing internal document (PDF, DOCX, TXT or MD) as the file for the AI, and it writes the material from that content. You attach the file each time you generate.

Common tasks (AI content generation)

  1. Open the lesson's edit screen and fill in the Lesson title (レッスンタイトル, required) and the Summary (概要(Summary)).
  2. Click Generate body with AI (AIで本文を生成) at the top right. If the body is empty, AI writes one from scratch; if there's already a body, it improves and expands it. Either way, it draws on the course, the section and your organization's information.
  3. The result goes into the body field, replacing whatever was there.
  4. Review it, make any changes it needs, and save with Update (更新する).
The more specific your instructions (the instruction box on the AI content generation screen, or a lesson's summary), the better the result. Just adding who it's for and how difficult it should be makes the draft much closer to usable as is.

  1. On the lesson's detail screen, click Add (追加) under Supplementary materials (補足資料(Materials)), then choose the Generate slides (スライド生成) tab.
  2. Enter a topic if you like, then click Generate slides with AI (AI でスライドを生成). AI builds a Reveal.js slide deck from the lesson body and your topic.
  3. Check it in the body field and adjust the Markdown by hand if needed.
  4. Save with Add (追加する), and the slides play on the learner's lesson screen (they advance with the arrow keys or a tap).

  1. First, fill in Company profile for AI (optional) (AI 用会社プロフィール(任意)) on the organization's edit screen in the Consultant area: company overview, vision, mission, values and additional notes for the AI.
  2. Lesson body generation and AI suggestions for sections and lessons take this context into account, so the materials reflect your organization. (The text and slide generation on the AI content generation screen does not use your organization's information.)
If this is left empty, the output tends toward generic advice that would fit any company. The sooner you fill it in, the less rework you'll do later.

Things to keep in mind with AI content generation

Opening certificate management

Click Certificate management (修了証管理) in the left sidebar. The URL is /en-US/{organization ID}/curriculum/certificates. The page itself is headed 証明書管理.

This is where you manage the certificates that are issued to learners automatically once they pass every required test on the learning paths a certificate is linked to.

The screen (certificate list)

Actions

The Add certificate (証明書を追加) button is at the top right.

Certificate cards

Each card shows the name, whether it's Published (公開中) or Unpublished (非公開), the description and the number of required paths, with buttons for Path settings (パス設定), edit and delete.

Common tasks (certificates)

  1. Click Add certificate (証明書を追加) at the top right of the list.
  2. Fill in the following.
    • Certificate name (証明書名, required), e.g. "AI Literacy Certification" or "AI for Sales Certification"
    • Description (説明), for example how the certificate is earned
    • Badge image URL (バッジ画像URL(任意), optional): enter the address of an image
    • Validity period in months (有効期間(か月), 1 to 120; leave it blank for no expiry). 30 days before a certificate expires, the learner is notified and the paths are assigned to them again.
    • Publish (公開する(ユーザーへの自動発行を有効化)): when this is on, learners who meet the conditions are issued the certificate automatically
  3. Save with Create (作成する). The required paths screen opens next.

  1. Open the required paths screen from Path settings (パス設定) on the certificate's card. Under Paths you can add (追加できるパス), click Add (追加) next to the learning path you want.
  2. You can add several paths. A learner has to meet the conditions on every path you add; there's no option to issue the certificate when any one of them is done.
  3. Once the paths are linked, a learner who passes every required test on all of them is issued the certificate automatically, as long as the certificate is published. The check runs when the learner submits a test on one of those paths.

  • Automatic issuing: a published certificate is issued to the learner as soon as they meet the conditions (when they submit a test). It shows an Auto-issued (自動発行) badge on the employee's detail page in HR.
  • Manual issuing: there's currently no screen for issuing or approving a certificate by hand. To stop automatic issuing, turn off Publish (公開する).

  1. Click the edit (pencil) button on the certificate's card and change the Badge image URL (バッジ画像URL). The organization name and logo printed on certificates are set in HR under Print settings (certificates) (印字設定(修了証)), and changing them requires the HR lead role.
  2. Certificate PDFs that have already been issued are stored as they were at the time of issue, so your changes apply to certificates issued from now on.
Settle the design before you start issuing certificates, and you won't end up with older and newer certificates that look different.

Designing the conditions

A certificate should be something learners are glad to receive. How you set the conditions changes how learners see it.

Condition
Pass the required tests

On every linked path, pass the required tests at or above the passing score.

Watch out
Paths without required tests

A path with no required tests counts as met, and lesson completion isn't checked. If you want to confirm learners finished a path, give it a required test.

Multiple certificates
Mix large and small

Combine a broad certification with smaller, topic-specific ones (for example, "AI Comprehensive Certification" plus "RAG Specialist Certification").

Troubleshooting (AI content)

Problem Likely cause and fix
AI generation fails Generating a lesson body requires a title. Otherwise it may be a temporary error on the AI service's side, so wait a while and try again.
The output is thin Add specific instructions (audience, difficulty, tone) to the instruction box, or to the summary for a lesson body.
The slides look broken The slide breaks (a line containing only ---) or the heading at the top of each slide (##) may be off. Fix them by hand.

Troubleshooting (certificates)

Problem Likely cause and fix
A learner met the conditions but wasn't issued a certificate Either the certificate is unpublished (Publish (公開する) is off), or the learner hasn't passed a required test on one of the linked paths. The check runs when a test is submitted, so if you published the certificate or linked the paths afterwards, it isn't issued until the learner next submits a test on that path.
A certificate was issued by mistake There's currently no screen for revoking an issued certificate. To avoid mistakes, check the required paths and required tests before you turn on Publish.
The certificate design doesn't match your brand Change the printed organization name and logo in HR under Print settings (certificates) (印字設定(修了証)), which requires the HR lead role. Swap each certificate's badge image with Badge image URL (バッジ画像URL) on its edit screen, and match your organization's official format.
