Manabu2 has two kinds of questions, lesson quizzes and path tests, plus a Test Management screen where you handle all your tests in one place. Both kinds exist so learners don't finish a lesson only thinking they've understood it. This guide follows, step by step, which screen a curriculum manager uses to build each one.
- Put a short check quiz at the end of a lesson
- Create a path test tied to a learning path
- Manage all of your organization's tests in one place on Test Management
- Add and edit questions in the question editor
- Adjust the passing score later
First, tell the question types and the management screen apart
Before you start, be clear about which one you need right now and you won't get lost. Each lives in a different place and serves a different purpose.
Check understanding on the spot
A short set of check questions at the end of a lesson. Learners can retry as many times as they like until they pass, and passing marks the lesson complete. It's less about grading and more about getting people to recall what they just learned.
Test the whole path
A final exam tied to a specific learning path. Passing a test marked as required to complete the path meets part of the conditions for issuing a certificate, so this is the gate for saying someone has really finished.
Manage all tests together
The screen where you list and edit every test in your organization in one place (internally called All Tests). It isn't a separate kind of test: each test is tied to one path, and a test that isn't tied to a path isn't shown to learners.
Creating a lesson quiz
You create and edit quizzes lesson by lesson. Because a quiz is managed together with its lesson material, you can review the questions whenever you fix the lesson content.
- Go to Course Management (コース管理) in the left sidebar → the course → the section → the lesson.
- In the Quiz (クイズ) section of the lesson details, click Add (追加) (if the quiz already exists, click its name). The quiz management page opens.
- On the quiz management page, click Edit (編集) to set the quiz title, instructions for learners, passing score (%), whether the quiz is required and whether it's published.
- Click Add question (問題を追加) to open the question editor.
- Enter the question, the answer options and the correct answer(s). You can also have AI suggest answer options.
- Once saved, the quiz appears on the lesson page. When a learner submits their answers, they see their score and whether they passed right away.
Creating a path test
Path tests are managed by tying them to a learning path. The key is to decide, together with the test itself, which path it's the final exam for. You can also create one from Manage tests (テストを管理) in the Tests (テスト) section of a path's details page.
- Click Test Management (テスト管理) in the left sidebar. The URL is
/en-US/{organization ID}/curriculum/tests. - On the list, click Create test (テストを作成) at the top right.
- Set the following:
- Test name (テスト名), for example "AI literacy basics: key terms check"
- Linked path (紐付きパス), chosen from the dropdown. If you leave it as unassigned, learners won't see the test
- Passing score (合格ライン (%)), for example 70%
- Time limit (制限時間(分)) in minutes; leave it blank for no limit
- Whether the test is required to complete the path (パス完了に必須(合格が必要))
- Click Create (作成する) and the question management page opens, where you add questions.
- For each question, enter the question text, an optional explanation and the question type, then click Add question (問題を追加). Then add the answer options one at a time and tick the correct ones.
- Once saved, the test appears on the Tests & Quizzes page of learners who are assigned the path.
Handling all tests in Test Management
Test Management (internally AllTests) is the screen where you work with every test in your organization in one list. A test can be tied to only one path, so if you want the same content in several paths, create a test for each path.
- Open the list from Test Management (テスト管理) in the left sidebar. For each test you can see its linked path, number of questions, passing score and whether it's required.
- In the create/edit form, set the test name, description, passing score, time limit, whether it's required and the linked path. There's no setting for how many questions to ask: every question you add is asked.
- Add questions on the question management page. It's the same question editor you get when you open a test from a path's details page.
- You can change the linked path at any time by editing the test here. Tests that aren't tied to a path aren't shown to learners.
Working in the question editor
You write path test questions on the same question management page, whether you open it from Test Management or from a path's details page. The lesson quiz editor works the same way for question text, answer options and correct answers (question types and explanations are for path tests only).
- Question type: Single choice (単一選択) or Multiple choice (複数選択)
- Write the question in plain text (Markdown isn't converted)
- Add answer options one at a time with Add option (選択肢を追加). There's no fixed number, and Delete all (全削除) clears them in one go
- Tick Correct (正解) for the right answer(s). A question with no correct answer can never be answered correctly, whoever takes it
Optional. Explanations aren't currently shown on the learner's results screen; they're a note for authors that you can see on the question management page. Recording why the answer is correct helps when you review the questions later.
Questions are asked in the order you add them, and you can't reorder them afterwards. Think about an order that keeps learners moving, such as adding the easier questions first, as you build the test.
Common tasks
- Find the test's row in the test list.
- Use the Edit (編集, pencil icon) button for its basic info, and the Questions (問題) button to add or delete questions.
- On the question management page, use Add question (問題を追加), or the trash button on a question.
- There's no draft state: adding or deleting a question is saved immediately and reaches learners straight away.
- Update the passing score (%) on the test's Edit page.
- Once you save, it applies from the next attempt onward.
- Tests have no "private" setting. For a test you no longer need, the safe option is to edit it in Test Management and set the linked path back to unassigned (— 未割り当て —), which removes it from the path.
- Deleting a test also deletes its results, so make very sure before you do it.
Design considerations

Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause and fix |
|---|---|
| A question won't save | A lesson quiz question won't save if the question text is empty, no option has any text, or no correct answer is ticked. Enter your options and mark at least one as correct. Path test questions are saved without this check, so take care not to forget the correct answer. |
| Learners can't see the test | Either the test isn't linked to a path yet, or that path hasn't been assigned to the learner. |
| I raised the passing score and now nobody passes | Rethink the difficulty of the questions and how many there are. Judge it together with the Average test score (テスト平均点) on the executive Skill gap analysis (スキルギャップ分析) page. |
| A learner can't retry a quiz | There's no setting that limits retries. Once a learner has passed a quiz, it shows as already passed and the quiz form no longer appears. Until they pass, they can retry as many times as they like. |
| I set a time limit but the test never times out | On the web, the time limit isn't shown or enforced, and tests are never submitted automatically. The time limit is there to record whether a learner finished in time when they take the test in the app, and it doesn't affect whether they pass. If you don't need it, leave it blank (no limit). |
