Comparing AI Adoption by Department – Executive Guide

The department dashboard shows which departments in your organization are pulling ahead and which are stalling. Skill gap analysis tells you which metric is weak; this screen tells you where you're strong and where you're weak. Think of it as the screen for deciding who your next initiative should reach.

Opening the department dashboard

Click AI Adoption by Department (部署別 AI活用状況) in the left sidebar. The URL is /en-US/{organization ID}/executive/departments.

You're on the right screen if the page is titled Department Dashboard (部署別ダッシュボード) and opens with a short note that it compares AI adoption, skill maturity and learning completion across departments to show the organization's strengths and bottlenecks.

The four summary cards

Four highlights give you the key points of how your departments compare. Use them to get your bearings before you dig into the charts.

Most advanced in AI adoption (最もAI活用が進んでいる部署)

Shows the department name and its AI adoption index. Start here when you're looking for a model to roll out elsewhere.

Biggest skill shortfall (最もスキル不足の部署)

Shows the department name and its maturity score. This is the first department to consider for intervention.

Highest learning completion (学習完了率が高い部署)

Shows the department name and its completion rate (%).

Most members needing attention (要注意人数が最多の部署)

Of the departments flagged as needing attention, shows the one with the most members, along with its member count. Despite the card's title, the number is the department's total headcount, not a count of at-risk members.

The three sections below

AI adoption index by department (部署別 AI活用指数)

A bar chart with department names along the bottom and the AI adoption index (0–100) up the side. Each department is a blue bar.

Skill maturity by department (部署別 スキル成熟度)

The same layout, with department names along the bottom and the maturity score (0–100) shown as green bars.

Learning progress by department (部署別 学習進捗(完了率))
  • The department name, plus a Needs attention (要注意) badge when it applies
  • The completion rate (%, the average of each member's path progress) in large type
  • A progress bar (green ≥70%, blue ≥40%, yellow ≥20%, gray <20%)
  • The number of members in the department

Common tasks

  1. Check the Most advanced in AI adoption (最もAI活用が進んでいる部署) and Highest learning completion (学習完了率が高い部署) summary cards.
  2. If the same department appears on both, it's a candidate benchmark for the whole company.
  3. Talk to that department's manager and see whether what's working can be rolled out to other departments.
A department that appears on only one of the two cards is too early to call a model. Look for one that appears on both.

  1. Focus on the Biggest skill shortfall (最もスキル不足の部署) and Most members needing attention (要注意人数が最多の部署) cards.
  2. In Learning progress by department (部署別 学習進捗(完了率)) at the bottom, look for cards with a Needs attention (要注意) badge.
  3. Open that department from the department list in HR, then follow up member by member.

  1. Scan the colors of the Learning progress by department (部署別 学習進捗(完了率)) cards from top to bottom.
  2. Treat gray (<20%) as the most urgent, then yellow (20–40%), blue (40–70%) and green (≥70%).
  3. For gray and yellow cards, work with HR on a follow-up plan.

Comparing the two bar charts

Look at the AI adoption index and skill maturity charts one above the other, and each department falls into one of four patterns. Two departments can both be "low" and still need completely different responses.

Pattern What it means and what to do next
Both high AI use and learning are moving together. Keep it going and consider rolling the approach out to others.
High AI adoption, low maturity People are using AI on the job, but structured learning isn't keeping up. The challenge is making time to learn.
Low AI adoption, high maturity Learning is on track, but it isn't being applied to real work yet. Create hands-on opportunities by turning it into projects.
Both low The top priority for intervention. Worth getting senior leadership directly involved.

Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause and fix
Every summary card shows "—" None of your departments has any members. Add members from HR → department list → department details. This screen counts the members added on the department details page, not the department typed on each employee's profile.
No "Needs attention" badge appears Departments with a skill maturity of 40 or more and at least one member active in the last 14 days aren't flagged (a good sign). Or the department has no members.
The charts are small and hard to read If you have many departments, widen your browser window, or generate an Excel or PDF file from the report page and read it there.
An unexpected department tops "Most advanced in AI adoption" The AI adoption index is calculated as active rate × 0.5 + AI course completion rate × 0.5, so in a small department a few very active members can push it up sharply. Check the member count as well.
You added members to a department but nothing changed The figures are recalculated every time the page opens, so reload the page. If nothing changes, check that the people were added as members on the department details page (HR → department list → department details). Typing a department on an employee's profile doesn't affect this screen.
